I want to create a classroom community where students have choice, comfort, and collaboration. Flexible seating gives students the ability to choose where they work in the classroom. This, in turn, gives students the feeling of being a part of the community and being an active part of their learning. Flexible seating allows students to easily collaborate with one another by pairing up quickly and easily instead of moving heavy desks across the room. This means less time spent moving furniture and more time LEARNING! Many students also use the sense of touch in order to focus and process information, and flexible seating provides that sensory input. This is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
