We teachers pool in as many of our tools and time to devote to our young people's goals. I am a first year teacher and a book nerd; I know the power of a good story. My students are full of purpose, energy and a deep desire to push their potentials and have themselves heard. They want to read stories that reflect and challenge them; I want to bring them stories that open conversations. I would love to bring a class set of "The Hate U Give" to my students to share; with a yearly budget of $100 and a first year teacher's salary, I'm unable to do so on my own. Allow me to bring my students a little more of what they need.
