For many of my students, my classroom is the first one they will ever set foot in. Creating an inviting and comfortable environment is important to me because it helps hesitant children feel more relaxed, gets children excited to come to school, and aids children in the big transition from home to school. The couch and ottoman will make a great addition to the library corner or dramatic play area. The addition of the couch and ottoman will also provide opportunities for flexible seating. The child-sized furniture ensures comfort as well as a sense that the space is “just right” for them. Adding a new rug into the library corner makes the space more inviting. Including a floor lamp into the classroom provides ambient lighting during nap time and reduces over-exposure of harsh fluorescent lighting. These items will make a huge difference in my classroom, making it a space these young children will love coming to every day.
