With these books, I will expand my classroom library to create a print-rich environment where students will have options. Kids love having options and providing them with a variety of topics will ensure ALL students' interests are covered. My classroom library will be the first encounter my 3rd graders will have with books during this school year. With over 90% of them coming from low-income families they are very limited with their resources. The books chosen have been selected carefully to include multicultural, information, fictional, and many genres that will promote inclusiveness. Having a variety of levels will also benefit all students including the struggling readers to the most advanced readers.
