This flexible seating option, an upgrade from what is currently a hard tile surface, will allow for students to sit comfortably on the floor during whole group instruction, interactive read alouds, small group interactions and projects. This essential meeting place in a classroom allows students to engage in their learning as a group. This specific rug has the benefit of allowing students to have their own space to sit allowing for stability and predictability in the classroom with individual carpet spaces. Additionally, through the visual letter representation on each carpet square letter recognition is increased (an essential early learning foundational skill). In my classroom I want students to take control of their education. This will be done by allowing students to be the leader of their carpet square letter, and be the "letter helper" during instruction on the alphabet.
