My students have various deficits in academic areas. These deficits combined with many who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD makes it very difficult to manage staying still for long periods of time. Research has shown that these students benefit greatly from having the chance to be active. I envision my students having the opportunity to choose from various flexible seating options like these wobble chairs. Our students who struggle the most academically are usually the students with the most wiggles. Having the option to advocate for themselves and choose what seat would work best for them will help them allow to move around using the energy they do have while still working hard to achieve academically. Given the option to choose their own "working spot" will, in turn, allow them to do their personal best and truly allow ALL students to take control of their own learning. My first graders would love to gain independence in their education, and these wobble chairs and flexible seating options can help them do just that!
