Technology occupies an important place within students' lives, and as educators, we need to keep up with the times in order to best prepare our students for this ever-changing world that we live in. Technology in the classroom would help students learn at their own pace. For example, students can learn according to their abilities and needs while I work individually with students who may be struggling. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. I currently have two desktops in the classrooms that we share among 26 students. Students prefer technology because they believe it makes learning more interesting and fun, but truly technology helps retain information better. Having our own class set of Fire tablets would make scheduling and planning much easier for me as a teacher. We could set up technology centers for students to practice and improve their math facts and reading comprehension. Subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more interesting with virtual lessons through a video, or when using a tablet. We could teach kids how to be more self-sufficient and safe with their access online. By embracing and integrating technology in the classroom, we are setting our students up for a successful life outside of school.
