My first graders love carpet time. We begin our day each day on the carpet with a morning meeting. During morning meeting we greet each other, share any feelings we may be having, and read our class greeting. Having a teacher easel will allow my students to read and edit our classroom greeting in an interactive way. During this time they are building so many different literacy skills. This is their favorite time of day and sets the tone for the rest of the day. Giving my students time to create during the day is so important! Having an art easel in the classroom will give my students an opportunity to paint and draw different creations throughout the year. This is not only a wonderful creative outlet but it also produces some of my students' best writing. When students are given an opportunity to create they will become better writers!
