Students use read aloud texts in the classroom to build comprehension and mastery of text. Students access mentor texts with Readworks.org and Kindle e-readers for buddy reading and independent centers. Imagination and exploration ignites when students participate in project based learning. Students use SeeSaw.com to record themselves teaching content to fellow students. For example, while learning about natural disasters, students created a weather channel, detailing the affects of a natural disaster and safety measures to take. Projects like this use literacy, math social studies and science content areas. Kindles provide access to presentation platforms like this to multiple students at a time. Kindles in our classroom will provide greater opportunities to extend curriculum comprehension and allow students to create tangible learning experiences.
