Technology is the missing piece in our classroom! Our district has moved to using Guided Reading Centers so that each student can read and learn on their level. Chromebooks would mean that each of my students would be able to utilize technology in a variety of ways throughout the day in order to enhance their learning. My students need lots of practice reading and listening to stories in order to increase their comprehension and fluency skills. There are hundreds of programs online that students could access that would allow them to listen, read and interact with stories in a way that keeps them engaged and connected. I already have access to many of these online programs including Scholastic Reading, MyOn, Accelerated Reader, Social Studies Weekly, FOSS science online, etc. The Chromebooks will allow me the ability to provide each student with individualized learning to help them grow. The Chromebooks will empower me to create assignments that will help students learn and grow in ways they can't right now. We can develop Portfolios, create Powerpoints, look up research, practice math facts, ...the list is endless! Thank you for helping me get the resources necessary to help kids!
