I have been an avid reader since I was a young child. I recognize the joy that comes from getting lost in a good book. I also know the value of reading for pleasure. Nothing increases a child’s vocabulary like reading. I am working on building a well-stocked classroom library full of novice-level Spanish novels that will appeal to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Once this is implemented, students will have at least ten minutes each day to read for pleasure in Spanish. I hope to share my love of literacy with my students by introducing them to Spanish-language novels that are both compelling and comprehensible for their age and language level. Please help me lead them toward bilingualism and bi-literacy.
