The area rug in my room will be used all the time every day! As it has circles, it will be great for seating the children during Morning Meeting and for listening to stories or just working with a partner when playing math games. The circles will keep the children from spilling over into other children's spaces, and will help them stay focused. They learn to share space. Our tables are great for collaboration but not for organizing children's materials! That's where chair pockets become important. They keep each child's books and papers in one place with easy access, and helps teach children how to organize their things. As they are not so large, children need to be able to decide what to keep, what to hand in, or what to take home, a very valuable lessons in second grade!
