Each and every day my students come into my classroom to learn math. Some love learning math, and others despise it! I want to create a learning environment that my students feel safe, comfortable, and can engage in each lesson daily. The materials I chose will give them the flexibility to choose their seating, be it traditional desks (which are already housed in my classroom), floor pillows (which I have a handful from last school year), ball chairs, camping chairs, beanbag chairs, or new colorful floor pillows. I feel that when you are comfortably seated you are more likely to actively engage in the information you are exposed to. This takes the idea of a traditional classroom, and gives it a twist of house-like feel to help the students want to come into math class daily to explore new concepts.
