The use of the Scholastic News Magazine will be an important part of our Social Studies Block and/or our Science Block. My scholars can also read these magazines during Independent Reading. This will help the scholars to focus on building content knowledge, vocabulary and reading skills. My goal is to create a multimedia curriculum in my classroom. I want to include reading material that reflects the rich diversity of my first grade classroom. My scholars need to be able to read and comprehend informational text and non-fiction print. They will be able to read independently at their own grade level.
