Although it is well documented that a robust education is foundational to achieving the ever illusive "American Dream", the U.S. Government continues to disproportionately fund its' military over its' schools. In order to re-assess and critique how our government officials choose to use our funds, it is crucial for our future generations that they gain a clear understanding of their country's aggressive imperialist past. And there is no better book that highlights the tragic outcome of US militarism than Joel Andreas' comic history "Addicted to War". By reading this text my students will gain a better understanding of our government's role in going to war which will hopefully influence their ability to become effective advocates for peace in the years to come. I am planning on using this book as a foundational text in my 11th Grade U.S. History class especially since it's comic format makes it very accessible for all my students. Please help to collectively cut our bloated military budget and put an end to these seemingly endless wars by donating whatever you can for my students to get the chance to read this important book. Peace, Love, and Many Blessings!
