At the beginning of the year I was given a "classroom set" of calculators. There are 2 different styles, some are broken, and there are only about enough for half of my students in each class. I want my students to have access to tools that will help them be successful in math. By getting a whole class set of the same type of calculators, I can easily give whole class instruction on how to use specific functions. One of the eight mathematical practices is "using appropriate tools strategically" and my students can't do that if we don't have the appropriate tools.
