Although some of these items are basic essentials needed to teach a hands-on mathematics class, some are to help me create more activities to engage my students. As a student teacher, I created many "games" and activities which made boring middle level math fun and the students retained more information. I have made "Clue" type games where students have to solve the problem to get the clue to a mystery. I have made board games where students have to find the area, perimeter, or volume to a game card to advance on in the game. There are so many ways to learn now, while still making learning fun, even in the upper levels. Hands-on curriculums also help struggling students grasps concepts they may otherwise not understand. Having more ways to learn increases the students' retention. Plus, hands-on is far more fun than they way I learned! In order to create and maintain a fun and creative hands-on learning environment, I have put together a project list of things my classroom would need. I have colored card stock to capture the interest and attention of the students, as well as a laminator and laminating sheets to help protect and preserve these activities. By protecting the activities and lessons, I will be able to continue to provide fun for all and not have to spend additional money in the future to recreate the same activities I appreciate you taking the time to read, consider, and donate where and when you are able. Teaching in Oklahoma is a very big task, which many are not willing to take, or leave because it is just too hard. Wish me luck, and thank you for any help you are able to provide me and my students!
