My students need a comfortable, welcoming place to read! In our high trauma school, comfort and welcoming do not come easy to our students. I want the library to be a safe loving place where they can easily grab a good book and discover great new places. The love of reading is the great escape these kids need. I want my kids to know that being in a high trauma, high poverty school does not mean that this is the best our world has to offer them. Reading brings ideas and knowledge and a path to better places. Getting kids to read in a old white room filled with tables and uncomfortable chairs will not bring the excitement of reading to these kids. I aim for them to walk in, grab a good book, find a great place to sit and dive into their imagination. Let these books and comfortable seating take them to new places!
