My students are from the Tip of Texas, bordering Mexico. Kids whose first language is not English or Spanish to be exact. More like "Spanglish," and lacking vocabulary and background knowledge. However, their determination to be successful in life is so great. I consider myself very fortunate to be a small part of their lives and hope to be a mentor and a good example for them in the future. As a second language learner myself, I understand what they go through. My students are grateful kids; eager to learn no matter the obstacles they have to face! I know donorschoose.org has been a wonderful asset to the lives of my students and educators, and I hope this will be a possibility for myself and my students too.
