My students are in need of new music stands. These stands will be used by the 4th grade recorder class, 5th grade Beginning Band, and 6th-8th Grade Jr. High Band. Currently, our school has a total of only 13 stands. In the last three years, our Jr. High Band has grown from just 13 students to 20 students. We are projecting at least 25 in the group next year, so 13 stands are just not enough. As well as needing more stands, several of the stands we have now are in poor condition. The top of the stand will pop off when trying to raise it or the top will slide and dump the music off. During our most recent concert, the top came off of a stand and the student was left trying to hang on to his instrument while keeping his music from scattering and keeping the top of the stand from clattering to the floor. Our project is for 12 stands. This number of stands will allow us to replace the broken ones and still add enough for the students to have adequate coverage. The students have been so excited about the growth of our band and the strides we have made as a group. They want the band to continue to grow and for that we need enough functioning equipment for our room.
