I teach ELA 11 at the newly built high school in Saginaw, MI. The building is beautiful; however, many of my students do not have the opportunity to go to a library except for the one in the classroom. Students at my school come from various backgrounds, and many aren't able to get their own school supplies or hygiene needs. I have drawstring backpacks hanging in a corner of my room that contain items such as deodorant, tooth brush kits, body wipes, etc. Students can help themselves to the products if they need anything. I also have paper and pencils in the classroom in order for the students to use. I provide notebooks to students who need them.
