Our district is adopting a brand new literacy resource next year that comes with many rich new learning resources. We need bins and tubs to make these materials accessible to both my students and to me as the teacher. Additionally, as I am switching from a fifth grade classroom to a first grade classroom, many of my previous organizational systems and manipulatives need to change to match the developmental needs of my new students! Clear organization and appropriate hands-on resources allow for more time to deeply engage in learning with my students. Book bins and trays for each student will allow children to access books based on their level and unique interests! By organizing the new reading resource into bins by unit and reading level, I will also be able to spend less time searching for the pieces we need and more time planning out lessons and working with my students. Chalkboards with borders will help our class develop legible handwriting. Classroom money sets will also help our classroom build strong financial literacy skills that they will need for the rest of their lives! This project will help my students be able to easily access what they need to keep growing.
