My students have unique environmental needs. Our number one priority is safety. This means limiting the amount of items that can be thrown, kicked, or hit when a child is having a hard time coping with the aggression they are feeling. The bean bags will replace the chairs in the classroom and provide a softer seating option. The noise cancelling head phones will allow my students that have sensory problems to protect their ears, and prevent a breakdown when the environment is getting too loud. The punching bag will give my students the opportunity to get out their anger and frustration in an appropriate manner, instead of harming themselves or others. My students need a classroom that is cozy and comfortable in order to be able to focus and learn. The large rug will be used for reading time, and carpet center activities. The lamps will provide my students with dim lighting that is not too harsh on their eyes. The wobble chairs will allow my students with ADD and ADHD to move around while staying seated and focused on their learning.
