Bringing in book studies from authentic sources and experts really bridges the content they are learning in Biology to real world issues. Fascinating non-fiction books seamlessly tie in so many of the state standards for Biology which tend to be taught in isolation. Building a relevant and rich 'class set' library of books to deepen student literacy learning is invaluable. To have sets of these books speaking to Biology content and connections would provide valuable enrichment in the education of my students. Book studies promote collaborative content processing and idea generation for engineering projects.
