I envision these resources will be extremely beneficial for the success of my students in the 2018-2019 school year. These books have been specially chosen because they're centered around themes that will empower students to critically think about important issues in our society and expose them to additional genres that are high-level interest. Students will be able to choose books, which will foster a greater appreciation for reading in my class. The dictionaries will provide a strong support for my students that are English Language Learners (ELLs). By having readily accommodations available, this will help me reach ALL learners in my classroom. With these resources, my students won’t only become critical thinkers, but they'll be masterful readers of the English language. The best way to bridge the achievement gap is to read, and with the purchase of these books, my students will be on the pathway to college readiness. While working together through the power of literacy, we will grow stronger as a community.
