Flexible seating is more popular in classrooms. There's a reason for it. Year after year I have more students who prefer to stand while working. Standing tables offer students a comfortable way for these students to work. Many of my students will stand and lean over their tables because they simply can't sit while working. Allowing students to stand and exert energy actually helps certain students focus on their learning. Since so many of the children come from struggling backgrounds and situations, I wish to provide them with all the tools possible for them to be successful. The two standing tables will be a fantastic addition to the other flexible seating that's already in place. We have several pods around the room such as ball chairs, wobble seats, balance pillows, and crates. The standing tables will fill a void for students who need it.
