My project is to create an after school futsal program at Prairie Vista Middle school. Futsal is a fast paced, small-sided (5v5 including the goalkeeper) style of soccer. It is played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls. Futsal places a large emphasis on technical skill in high pressure situations which can be translated into the outdoor game. The sport is a great skill developer as it demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, and accurate passing. The soccer equipment provided by Donors Choose will help to start the Panther Futsal Club. The balls and goals will be used by 20 students for training sessions and small sided games. 10 futsal balls and multiple goals will the increase the amount of participation. The increased the number touches and repetitions will greatly improves technical skills, confidence, and situational awareness of the students.
