Play is integral part of kindergarten. It helps teach students problem solving skills and promotes real-world scenarios in which they learn how to become active members of the community around them. This wooden kitchen set will help my students build their social-emotional skills through active play with their peers. They will use these tools to help manage emotions, practice building healthy relationships with their peers, promote sharing, and practice building empathy for others. My students will also have the opportunity to integrate these tools into other curriculum areas, such as reading. Our reading units are based on a theme, which will help us reinforce kindergarten reading skills while they are engaging in dramatic play.
