Sitting in school for 8 hours a day can get monotonous and boring which often leads to inattentiveness and behavior problems. I would like to purchase a seating rug and provide a place where my students can go individually or as a class to work on their class work and where we can learn together. They need to be able to move and feel comfortable in my classroom. Most seven and eight year olds out in the world are rambunctious and active, which leads to my main purpose of this project which is to teach my students that they can move about but there are also social boundaries with that movement that need to be followed. A rug that has designated seating squares will provide a visual spot they will be able to follow that will help them see that boundary and respect other students personal space. I would also like to use this rug a lot during teaching times so that the students do not have to always sit in their desks and they can feel comfortable as we continue to learn. This will make a difference in my students' learning by helping them to see boundaries and be more comfortable and in control of their bodies as we learn.
