August brings a new year with new students sharing new interests, personalities and needs. To maximize my students’ chances for success, I need to improve two facets of my classroom: Student seating and my classroom library. While some students still prefer traditional desks and chairs, many students benefit from non-traditional seating options. The ability to wiggle or wobble while working can help stimulate a student's brain as they delve into new concepts. Likewise, having a comfy, quiet corner can encourage students to dive into a good book, cultivating a love of literature. With this in mind, I’d love some flexible seating options. Hokki stools allow for stationary mobility and cushioned chairs invite students to settle down and immerse themselves in reading. Reading success requires more than just a comfy cushion, it requires books! And I really need to increase the depth and breadth of my classroom library. Books from a diverse range of genres and reading levels will engage all of my students more effectively in growing as readers and thinkers. I’ve selected these titles because they will provide my students with a wider range of themes to explore and engage their imaginations.
