This school, a new public charter is bringing a quality Montessori education to this economically and culturally diverse community. As a public charter without the benefit of private school funding sources, this school is striving to provide an excellent education to its students. My class is a fantastic group of eager 1st through 3 grade children, many of whom have special learning needs. With three grade levels in one class, there are a range of learning styles and reading levels. One thing I'd like to share with you, that really touched my heart last year, was that the sense of entitlement I had experienced in well-funded private schools over the years had been replaced by an authentic spirit of such gratitude. Last year I borrowed sets of books, big books, and reader's theater scripts for my students-nothing went unread.
