Providing bean bags, small reading lamps and white bookshelves sets up the classroom to be a place like home or the local book store corner-the children can use the book baskets from Amazon and bookshelves (cubeicals organizers) to keep their books organized and easy to find. Students can settle down and get comfy with a good book and who doesn't love their own little corner with a beanbag and lamp-all that's missing is the coffee house music! My 2nd graders are more likely to spend more time reading when they are comfortable in Amazon's purple bean bag chairs, and relaxed around the room with some of Amazon's desk lamps. The beanbags and lamps give these second graders space, comfort, and flexibility to take their books around the room and read where they feel most at ease. It creates a space where reading is encouraged and invited.
