Remember those students who were teased or laughed at in school because they didn't say their "R" sound correctly or who weren't able to answer questions? They had to get pulled out of class to go to the "special" room? Each year, I get the privilege of teaching amazing, hard working students to learn how to say all sounds correctly in conversation, without stutters and in a way that makes sense. As a speech therapist, I try very hard to get all of my students to progress as far as they can in elementary school. My ultimate goal is to help them sound amazing when they have their first job interview years later. I am thrilled when students learn new speech sounds for the first time! Some students have one or two sounds to learn, others have several and it's awesome to watch their transformations.
