As an English teacher, I always expect my students to participate in solo and group work. For group work, it becomes a huge production to move desks and arrange everyone before the activities even begin; then, it becomes a fight to have them return everything to the way it was at the end of the day. By using tables and chairs in our room, it will decrease the amount of time spent moving furniture and increase the time my students can be exploring new ideas and learning. My high school students are on a learning adventure that requires them to learn to work independently and with others to prepare them for the future. By incorporating these 60" flower tables and chairs for the classroom, I can encourage them to work in groups and to develop leadership qualities. Many of my students struggle with expressing themselves and I have found that group work often gives struggling students the chance to work with peers who can help them to improve. This would also enable me to work with specific groups and incorporate more learning stations within my classroom so that students can participate in inquiry and discussion units for various topics.
