"It's coding time!" Squeals of joy flow through the classroom as my students grab their Chromebooks and take a seat. After learning beginning coding skills last year, they are ready for the next step in the ever-changing world of technology. I plan on using these inspiring materials to make STEM bins. Students will have access to these bins during our reading group rotations. My students are scientists, thinkers, coders, writers, readers, mathematicians, and DOERS. The Bit Coding Robots will be used to further their coding skills. The IQ Builder STEM Construction Set and Learning Resources Playground Engineering will encourage creativity and engineering skills. The Lego Chain Reactions and Lego Simple Machines sets will provide real-world experience with the world of machines and innovation. All of these hands-on learning experiences are sure to light a fire in their minds. We hope to instill a love of STEM so that these children can pursue jobs in the growing math and science careers.
