My students need to work on the four domain languages: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. They are all at different levels of proficiency in each domain, which means that I need to constantly change how I group in order to better meet their needs. Modular seating will allow me to create different spaces for each activity: a listening center with individual desks, a conversation area with a small group of desks facing each other, and a writing workshop with desks arranged into a larger work space so that students can collaborate on research projects and peer edit. Being able to configure the classroom into different spaces suited to the type of activity we do will help my students learn better and practice their skills in an optimal environment so that they can be successful in improving their English proficiency.
