As it is now, I have a very traditional classroom of rapidly deteriorating student tables and chairs. With these flexible seating options students will learn in an environment that not only allows them to move and get the wiggles out without interrupting work, but also encourages the opportunity for collaboration. The standing desks will be adjacent to one another and encourage working in pairs, with the option to sit on a stool when their feet need a break. Wobble cushions and stools will be easily moved to facilitate a variety of configurations, depending on the needs and preferences of the students. Focused collaboration is an invaluable skill these students will need throughout their educational careers and as they enter the workforce. The power of choice cultivates confidence in students. They benefit from shaping their own learning environments and begin to understand and address their own needs as lifelong scholars.
