The motions of the Earth and Moon create seasons and Moon phases. This is a difficult concept to visualize. The Sun-Earth-Moon boards were developed in order to help students see how and why the moon goes through phases and how the Earth's orbit causes seasons. Students will familiarize themselves with the boards and the concepts, then they will hypothesize as to how the orbits change the amount of sunlight on the moon and Earth. Class discussion of the concepts would be next, then the students will teach each other about the orbit of the Moon and its phases. Continuing the teaching about the orbit of the Earth and how that causes seasons. These materials will help me challenge students to figure out how the motions of Earth and Moon cause these things to happen.
