When technology advanced enough to make digital music, musicians everywhere became nervous that people would be replaced with technology. Since that time, we have discovered that technology and digital music can not only coexist with musicians, but also enhance the creative and performance processes. Having students use current technology to support learning is important in the general education classroom, and I want to extend that technology use into the music room as well. Students can compose simple melodies and rhythms, but using apps on an iPad will allow students to compose more complex music and really bring it to life. Students will be able to enhance their own rhythms and melodies by adding layers of music to it. They will also be able to hear their compositions come to life through the use of digital music. This will not ony make composing more rewarding, but it will also aide in the process of revising and reflecting.
