My students are middle school students STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) students and 12th grade physics students. They are primarily children of 1st and 2nd generation Hmong and Karen refugees. The Hmong are a mountain people from Vietnam/Laos who fought on the side of the US during the Vietnam war. After the war, they fled to Thailand and lived in refugee camps until many were resettled here in the US. The Karen are political refugees from Myanmar.
