My students love to read. At my school we use a reader's workshop approach, where in addition to lessons, students spend time every day reading actual books on their own and with each other. This is always a favorite part of our day - we turn on the quiet music, cozy up in the library or on the carpet, and enjoy reading books together. As first graders, my students are discovering the love of reading for the first time; they are avid readers who are going through books more quickly than I can supply them with new ones. I want to keep my classroom library fresh and exciting, and provide them with engaging, exciting and relevant books that they can read independently, and that I can read to them. I have selected a variety of books which I would love to add to our classroom library- the "Katie Woo" series, "Henry and Mudge," the "Mr. Putter and Tabby" series and some other books that I know they will love. These would be books that my first graders would read and enjoy every day.
