My kindergarten students need the opportunity to move while learning to increase their engagement in academic content, and while simultaneously strengthening their core muscles. When we keep students active, we keep their energy levels up and provide their brains with the oxygen-rich blood needed for highest performance. All too often, in education we focus primarily on academic content in a one size fits all mentality. The Washington Post states, "Letting kids move in class isn't a break from learning, it IS learning!" I want my students to increase their focus, their stamina, and their engagement. By providing them the chance to move while they learn, my goal will be met, and they will find school a more fun place to learn.
