Many of our students have emotional challenges and our counseling team would like to create a calming and supportive environment where students' emotional challenges can be communicated, shared, and met with empathy and understanding. Please help us to build our dream of enhancing our physical space to promote self expression, self regualtion and healing through mindfulness practices, art, and movement. Ideally we would like all students to come to school focused and ready to learn. This is not always the case. Research indicates that by teaching students the value of learning healthy coping skills early in life children are able to cope in healthy ways will be more resilient and manage stress better as adults. Art supplies will be utilized during counseling session to allow less verbal students an avenue and outlet for self expression. Yoga mats and balance balls will be integrated into mindfulness, meditation, and yoga groups designed to help students develop coping tools and positive outlets that a help them to calm their bodies and minds and help our youth to build resiliency.
