My students are creative problem-solvers and they thrive in an environment that promotes movement, choice, and collaboration. As their teacher, I consider myself responsible for providing them with a classroom that offers flexible seating. Some options I would like them to have are wobble chairs, lab desks, pillows, and portable desks. These will encourage autonomy in their environment as they tackle their academic goals throughout the day. Flexible seating will also encourage a sense of community and collaboration. Students will be able to work with their peers through the classroom in comfortable groups. When someone walks into my room I would like them to see students all around the room. They would potentially be working with a partner, a small group, or independently. They could be sitting at a traditional desk, on the floor with a lap desk, or wobbling on a stool.
