Building a strong classroom community is important. So, we begin and end each day gathered together on the floor to read and share. Students also sit on the floor when working with a partner or in small groups. A large classroom rug would provide my students with a comfortable spot to sit. The carpet we have now is old, and has areas that are uncomfortable for students to sit. This new rug would give each student a spot to sit on that is comfy and colorful. Comfortable seating will help students stay focused on the excitement of learning new things in our classroom.
