The school library is currently in the old lunchroom of our building and is split in two so I only have use of about 2/3rds of the space. With large and small circular tables and rectangular tables, there is not much room to sit and move around. Many students have to move their chair or crane their necks to see the smartboard and/or bulletin boards. The picture is of a second grade class which is the middle of the road in my K-5 class, and you can see how crowded it is. By requesting uniform rectangular tables I can arrange them in a "U" shape to maximize the space I have. This would also allow the younger students to sit on the floor which is more appropriate for a storytime as they'd be able to see better. The older students will feel more comfortable as well, so it's a Win-Win. I am requesting these tables especially as they also fold up which would be useful when the library is used for picture day, the mobile dentists, and other activities that occur since it is still one of the larger spaces in the building.
