There is No Place Like Home was the theme our school choose when returning to our campus after a year of being displaced following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. While our building had to completely redone on the inside, we found that many features of our original school, were not restored. One of the things we sincerely miss is having a carpeted classroom. Being an English Language Arts classroom affords countless opportunities to have exposure to written language through all genres of books, and my students love coming and sitting around me as I read even though it is on the cold tile floor. By providing a much needed carpet for students to sit upon, it would allow them more comfort. This in turn could assist them with better and longer focus on given skills lessons and independent reading or writing engagement. My students would love to have a comfortable carpet in which to listen and learn upon. Thank you!
