These decodable readers will be used in a small group setting to teach my students to decode words and start on their journey to becoming proficient readers. Decodable readers provide students with an opportunity to practice the decoding skills learned in class. These books will also be sent home so that students can continue to build reading fluency. Current reading research emphasizes the fact that proficient readers must be able to decode words with accuracy and fluency. These decodable readers will be valuable resources in increasing students' fluency and accuracy.
