This text will be a high interest and engaging text for my students. They are very interested in social justice issues and American History. Because of the different learning styles among the students, this high interest text delivers the story of John Lewis and the Civil Rights Movement in a very engaging format. We can still approach the text as we would a regular novel, but we can also discuss and study the visual aspects of the novel. It is important for students to not only be able to read, comprehend, and interpret text, they must also be able to do so with visual images.
