Healthy snacks helps kids learn in the afternoon and be active after school. As the school counselor, I have been providing snacks for kids because most of these kids are not getting a healthy snack in the afternoon. The kids receive a breakfast, snack, and lunch in our 100% free and reduced lunch program. We have many great programs the kids can participate in such as Battle of the Books, Mathematics Olympiad, Gymnastics, Basketball, homework help, choir, and a saxophone group, but we notice they are dragging this time of day. I have been paying out of my pocket and will continue to do so, but am requesting additional help for the children I have grown to love.
